Is Your Privacy Really Private?
In this 5 minute youtube video of a TV documentary show, the host of the show investigates how easy it is to harass somebody, track their whereabouts, and even listen in on their private conversations using… their own cell phone without them knowing!
Available Over the Internet Today
This type of invasive software is available very inexpensively and allowing you to track text messages, phone conversations, and listen in on dialogues. The software is available over the internet and is downloadable instantly. How convenient!
The show is about how stalkers harassed two women over a 4-month period. It all goes to show that it naïve for us to think that our cell phone dialogues are private and that no one would be trying to listen in on your conversations. The host of the show tried out some tracking software with the aid of one of his colleagues and proved how easy it to set up the software and that it works.
Your Privacy Is Not your Privacy
If this technology is available to you today, what is to stop the authorities, government agents, and spies using the same or better technology to track your location and listen in on your banter? With advancements computer technology, however unlikely it may seem, it would be possible to record every single telephone conversation and historically track people’s whereabouts. Of course to do any of this is illegal without prior consent of the person you are monitoring. But how would you know that you’re being monitored?
Even though this type of tracking and monitoring may have useful applications such as in crime investigations, it is scary to think that you could be being watched right now, as you read this post!
I carry my cell phone everywhere. Perhaps it is time to rethink this strategy.
